Today I was wondering why introverts seem to have so much success? Yes, as varied as our characters are – many successful people fall into the category of introverts. But wait, it’s not all bad, and you can use our FREE Introvert journal to find out if you qualify too.
I’m the first person to raise my hand and say I’m a people pleaser?
I honestly spend my time pleasing people. I prefer alone time to be in social situations where I have to perform. I think this gets worse as we age. I’m most at peace when I know I have some, or even a lot of time alone as in my own mind I know this is how I relax and destress. I don’t feel this is a bad thing.
Does that make me a shy person?
Probably – but I’ve never considered myself as shy.
Many of these character traits cross over to those who are also introverts.
I think you wouldn’t consider Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, JK Rowling or even Elon Musk introverts, but they are. Perhaps that is the secret to their success, do you think they keep a journal?
PRINTABLE JOURNAL FOR INTROVERTS
An introvert is a person with qualities of a personality type known as introversion, meaning they feel more comfortable focusing on their inner thoughts and ideas rather than what’s happening externally. They enjoy spending time with just one or two people, rather than in large groups or crowds.24 Jun 2020
Does this mean you spend days being shy or sitting in the corner? – Certainly not.
My daughter says she prefers to spend time with animals and avoids human interaction. Not necessarily true; she has a large circle of good friends and often attends social events with friends. But I will say – like me, we both worry about social activities. Those where I might feel vulnerable and likely to make a mistake.
I can’t tell you how often I’ve worried unduly about what someone in a social setting thinks about me. I don’t know why I take this on board; I’ve always put it down to not liking the idea of being outside of my comfort zone.
Let me tell you – even if you think you might not be an introvert, it’s ok to not enjoy these things.
- Social situations where you feel overwhelmed
- Large groups of people who might put you on the spot
- Feeling outside of your comfort zone often
- Feeling anxious about an upcoming event
- Rarely make any meaningful connections outside of the immediate family
- Enjoy your own company over that of others
- Have a hard time fitting into a group project.
Overcoming these limiting personality traits can be tricky, but journaling can help. Spending time with your own thoughts and sharing your feelings with close friends will help. Try spending time in smaller groups which can help with social anxiety and close relationships.
